Why are players searching for Genshin Impact 6.8?
For years, major updates advanced regularly: 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, then the next major region. During Song of the Welkin Moon, HoYoverse replaced the visible version numbering with Luna I–Luna VIII names. External services still assigned sequential 6.x numbers, which is why Luna VIII is commonly called 6.7.
The natural assumption that 6.7 must be followed by 6.8 turned out to be wrong. HoYoLAB’s official album closes the cycle at Luna VIII, while the next notices and game client move directly to 7.0. “6.8” therefore describes an expected but unshipped number, not a separate patch.
- Luna VIII: July 1, 2026.
- Genshin Impact 7.0: August 12, 2026.
- There is no official version page, patch note, or client labeled 6.8.
- Luna VIII is not Version 6.8 merely because both contain the number eight.

What did Luna VIII “Sunny Summer Fontinalia” add?
Luna VIII opened Dunanna Pit and the Frost Moon, unlocked through the “Moon Gazing” World Quest. The moon added Ancient Moon’s Remnants upgraded with Luna Sigils, layered maps, gravity anomalies, and a permanent explorable area beyond Teyvat.
The update bridged the journey into Snezhnaya but still delivered a full package of its own: Sandrone, Stellar-Conduct, the event and later permanent “Sunny Summer Fontinalia” quest, Miliastra Wonderland updates, and improvements to controller switching and dialogue navigation.
- Sandrone: 5-star Cryo Claymore and the flagship Stellar-Conduct character.
- Frost Moon: a permanent area with a lunar sea, station, and ruins tied to ancient dragons.
- A layered map that shows the player’s current terrain level in real time.
- Automatic controller ↔ keyboard/mouse switching on PC and new interface shortcuts.
03
Sandrone and Stellar-Conduct before Snezhnaya
Stellar-Conduct combines Cryo and Electro in a Polestar Field. The field stores energy, buffs reaction, Cryo, and Electro damage, and reduces enemy Physical RES. The reaction can CRIT and only works through characters capable of triggering its special variant.
Sandrone is an on-field Cryo DPS who commands the construct Fagio. Luna VIII also added Witch’s Revelation effects for selected older characters, including Yae Miko, Cyno, Wriothesley, Qiqi, Diona, and Beidou. Version 7.0 expands that foundation through Stellar Swirl and Cryo Traveler.
- Stellar-Conduct is not an automatic Superconduct replacement for every character.
- The Polestar Field releases stored energy periodically and enhances specific talents.
- The historical Sandrone, Citlali, Columbina, and Raiden banners ended before Version 7.0.
- Do not spend Primogems based on old Luna VIII banner graphics.
04
Fontinalia, Charlotte, and the content that remains
During “Sunny Summer Fontinalia,” players managed an aquarium, recovered underwater treasure, caught salvaged creatures, and ran a souvenir shop. While the patch was active, players could invite Charlotte and earn her Hurlock Variations outfit without spending Genesis Crystals.
That free-reward window ended with Luna VIII. The story chain remains as a permanent Story Quest, while Charlotte’s outfit moved to the shop. This distinction matters for returning players: the quest is still playable, but the historical promotion no longer works like an active event.
- Permanent: the “Sunny Summer Fontinalia” quest and Frost Moon areas.
- Ended: the free Charlotte invitation and event outfit claim.
- Citlali’s paid outfit had a time-limited discount that should not be treated as current.
- Luna VIII livestream codes expired long ago.

How do you move from Luna VIII to Version 7.0?
There is no missing 6.8 client or separate data pack to find. Update the game directly to 7.0. For full story context, finish Luna Act X and the permanent “Sunny Summer Fontinalia” before starting Chapter VII.
If you are returning only for the new map, 7.0 lets you begin Snezhnaya at AR18 after the Mondstadt Prologue. Leave enough storage for the update, claim compensation after logging in, and remember that Long-Term Encounter Points reset with the major version.
- Do not use files labeled “6.8” from unofficial mirrors.
- Verify the client version and language pack after updating.
- Finish permanent older quests first if you want to minimize spoilers.
- Then continue to the Version 7.0 overview and Snezhnaya checklist.
How we verified that Version 6.8 did not exist
The correction is based on the official Luna I–VIII timeline, release dates, and the patch notes for both versions that actually shipped. Editorial sources explain why 6.7 became the common unofficial label.

Questions
Was Genshin Impact 6.8 canceled?
HoYoverse never announced a separate 6.8, so it is more accurate to say that the patch did not exist in the official numbering than that a completed release was canceled.
Is Luna VIII Genshin Impact 6.8?
No. The official name is Luna VIII. External sites commonly mapped it to 6.7, but VIII refers to the eighth Luna chapter, not the decimal part of a version number.
Which version came before 7.0?
The release immediately before Version 7.0 was Luna VIII “Sunny Summer Fontinalia,” launched on July 1, 2026.
Can I still get Charlotte and her outfit for free?
Not through the finished Luna VIII event. The Story Quest remains permanent, but Charlotte’s free invitation and the event outfit claim were time-limited.
Do I have to finish Luna VIII before Snezhnaya?
Technically no: Chapter VII requires AR18 and the Mondstadt Prologue. Completing the major Luna quests is recommended for story continuity and fewer spoilers.
