Zenless Zone Zero translation overlay for story dialogue

It does not. The publisher’s own store listing shows 13 supported languages, and Polish appears in none of the columns: not interface, not subtitles, not audio. Voice acting was recorded in exactly four languages: English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese. The remaining nine are subtitle and UI only.

We also found no Polish fan translation project anywhere: not on grajpopolsku.pl, GitHub, Crowdin, ModDB or Nexus. That is “none found” rather than proof none ever existed, but if you are hunting for a ready-made Polish version of ZZZ you will probably come back empty-handed.

Zenless Zone Zero is an urban-fantasy action RPG. A disaster called the Hollows tore anomalous dimensions into the world, monsters called Ethereals come out of them, and you play a Proxy known as Phaethon (Belle or Wise) who guides other people through those tears. A squad is three Agents plus one Bangboo. Home base is New Eridu, jobs arrive through the Inter-Knot, weapons are W-Engines, and the gacha is Signal Search paid for with Polychrome.

The game launched on 4 July 2024 on Windows, iOS, Android and PS5, with a Steam release on 17 June 2026. If you land on a guide that describes ZZZ as a game about navigating a grid of televisions, it is simply out of date: TV Mode was removed from the main story in Version 1.4 on 18 December 2024 and retro-fitted out of the earlier chapters afterwards.

Kaption is a separate Windows app that runs alongside the game. You mark the region where ZZZ prints its dialogue once, and the app reads text out of that region and draws the translation in its own overlay above the game. Nothing changes inside ZZZ: your interface language and voice-over stay exactly as you set them.

The translation is not produced live from whatever the reader happened to catch. Screen text is matched against pre-translated lines from the game, so the overlay shows a complete sentence instead of a half-line the typewriter animation cut off mid-word.

Version 3.1 “The Long Goodbye” went live on 29 July 2026 and runs for 42 days, ending 9 September. It followed 3.0 “A Sleepwalker’s Confession” from 17 June 2026, which shipped the same day ZZZ arrived on Steam.

The bulk of the patch is Chapter 2 of Main Story Season 3 plus a new area, Roscaelifer – Booastrum – Gear Street. It also added a permanent mode called “Enigma of the Labyrinth: Operation Bagel” and second-anniversary rewards. Version 3.2 begins on 9 September, but its codename has not been announced, so we are not guessing at one.

Worth stating plainly: nothing in your ZZZ install directory is rewritten. In the file-replacement sense of the word, Kaption is not a localisation at all, because the translated text never enters the game. It is produced outside it and rendered in a separate window on top.

HoYoverse has published no statement about screen-capture overlays, so we are not going to tell you there is zero risk. What we can do is describe the mechanism and stop there. The Kaption source code is public, so you can check the claim instead of taking our word for it.

ZZZ is the third game Kaption supports, after Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. Same app, same account: you switch games in settings and draw a separate dialogue region for each one, because every game parks its text somewhere different on screen.
