Terms of Service
Effective: 14 April 2026
These terms govern your use of the kaption.one website (this site and the API at api.kaption.one). The desktop app is governed by a separate agreement — see the End-User License Agreement. By browsing or signing in, you accept these terms.
// 1. Use of the site
The site is provided for personal use. You may read the pages, create an account, download the installer, and manage your license. You may not:
- --
Scrape the site or its API at automated rates (hammering
/healthis fine; hammering/api/license/*is not). - -- Attempt to access accounts or resources that aren't yours.
- -- Republish the site's content without attribution.
- -- Use the site to distribute malware or do anything illegal.
// 2. Accounts
You create an account by signing in with Google or Discord. Your account is tied to that provider identity; we don't have a separate password. You're responsible for the security of your Google / Discord account. If we spot obvious abuse (credential sharing across many machines, scripted activations) we may suspend or delete the account. We'll email before deletion except in emergencies.
// 3. Service availability
Kaption is an indie project. We target high uptime but make no SLA commitments. Scheduled or unscheduled downtime can happen. The desktop app has a local grace period that lets it keep working while the API is unreachable, so day-to-day use shouldn't be affected.
// 4. Intellectual property
The site's code, copy, and branding belong to Kaption. The desktop app source is available under AGPL-3.0, with a commercial licence option. The official service backend, release pipeline, and proprietary translation dictionaries are not included. Game names, characters, and artwork shown as examples belong to their respective publishers.
// 5. No warranty, limited liability
The site is provided "as is". We're not liable for any damages arising from using it, to the extent the law allows a limitation. If the law in your country says some liability can't be disclaimed, that remains in force.
// 6. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the effective date at the top tracks the latest version. Governed by Polish law. Disputes in the Polish courts, except where local consumer-protection law lets you file where you live.
