Guide
How the kit works
Bring Jiyan in with Tactical Strike and hit enemies with Lone Lance to build Resolve. He can hold 60 Resolve, and it gradually decreases if he goes 15 seconds without hitting a target. His Intro also activates Heavenly Balance, giving him 10% ATK for 15 seconds.
With at least 30 Resolve, cast Emerald Storm - Prelude. Qingloong at War consumes 30 Resolve to add Emerald Storm - Finale (Forte), which deals Aero DMG counted as Heavy Attack DMG. Prelude also puts Jiyan in Qingloong Mode, increasing his resistance to interruption.
In Qingloong Mode, Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and Dodge Counter become Lance of Qingloong (Liberation), a sequence of up to three attacks counted as Heavy Attack DMG. Windqueller (Skill) deals 20% more damage in this mode without consuming Resolve. Outside it, Windqueller consumes 30 Resolve for the same damage increase when Jiyan has at least 30.
After Jiyan leaves the field, Discipline launches a coordinated attack when the incoming Resonator's Heavy Attack hits. Each hit deals Aero DMG equal to 313.40% of Jiyan's ATK. The effect lasts 8 seconds, can trigger once per second and triggers at most twice.
Build and why
Windward Pilgrimage is a guide-recommended set; its two-piece bonus gives 10% Aero DMG. Sierra Gale also gives 10% Aero DMG with two pieces, and the game recommends equipping five pieces. The five-piece effects are not specified here, so compare the available two-piece bonuses rather than assuming what the full sets do.
Verdant Summit is the first weapon choice. It gives 12% Attribute DMG Bonus, and each Intro Skill or Resonance Liberation cast adds 24% Heavy Attack DMG Bonus for 14 seconds, up to two stacks. That fits the attacks Jiyan uses in Qingloong Mode.
Thunderflare Dominion comes next: its Intro Skill or Resonance Skill effect gives 20% Heavy Attack DMG for 15 seconds. Its DEF-ignore effect requires obtaining a Shield. Ages of Harvest gives 12% Attribute DMG Bonus and bonuses to Resonance Skill DMG. For a 4-star option, consider Aureate Zenith, which grants ATK and Heavy Attack DMG Bonus after Liberation.
Consider ATK, Crit. Rate and Crit. DMG for damage, with Energy Regen if you need more comfortable access to Liberation. Tempest Taming itself grants 12% Crit. DMG for 8 seconds when Jiyan's attacks hit.
Leveling priority
A suggested order is Emerald Storm - Prelude, Qingloong at War, Windqueller, Lone Lance, then Tactical Strike. Level Prelude first for the attacks used in Qingloong Mode. Qingloong at War follows for Emerald Storm - Finale (Forte), then Windqueller for its damage.
To ascend Jiyan fully, gather 170 000 Shell Credit, 4 LF Howler Core, 12 MF Howler Core, 12 HF Howler Core, 4 FF Howler Core, 46 Roaring Rock Fist and 60 Pecok Flower.
For all skills, gather 2 030 000 Shell Credit, 25 LF Howler Core, 28 MF Howler Core, 40 HF Howler Core, 57 FF Howler Core, 26 Monument Bell, 25 Waveworn Residue 210, 28 Waveworn Residue 226, 55 Waveworn Residue 235 and 67 Waveworn Residue 239.
Resonance Chain nodes worth it
For Resonance Chain upgrades, a suggested first pick is Versatility (RC2). After Tactical Strike, it gives Jiyan 30 Resolve and 28% ATK for 15 seconds. It can trigger once every 15 seconds, making his entry into the rotation easier.
Spectation (RC3) is another damage option: casting the listed Skill, Liberation or Intro attacks gives 16% Crit. Rate and 32% Crit. DMG for 8 seconds. Fortitude (RC6) strengthens Emerald Storm - Finale (Forte): each Momentum stack consumed adds 120% to its damage multiplier, up to two stacks.
Benevolence (RC1) gives Windqueller another use and reduces its Resolve cost by 15. Prudence (RC4) gives the team Heavy Attack DMG Bonus after Liberation, while Resolution (RC5) improves Discipline and gives Jiyan an ATK effect. These are optional if you are stopping at an earlier node; neither is required for his basic rotation.
Teams
Jiyan wants field time to build Resolve and use Qingloong Mode. Give the remaining slots to teammates who can support his damage and keep the team alive. His kit does not specify a required teammate element, so the element of those slots is flexible.
When passing the field to another damage dealer, Discipline rewards a Heavy Attack hit with Jiyan's coordinated Aero attack. The incoming character needs to land Heavy Attacks to trigger it, and the effect can trigger only twice.
Common mistakes
Do not spend 30 Resolve on Windqueller just before casting Liberation if that leaves you below 30. You will miss Emerald Storm - Finale (Forte). Use Windqueller in Qingloong Mode instead when you want to preserve Resolve.
Do not let Jiyan go too long without hitting a target while holding Resolve. It starts to decrease after 15 seconds without a hit. When swapping him out, remember that Discipline needs the incoming Resonator's Heavy Attack to hit, not just any attack.
Do not build around an assumed five-piece set effect or the Shield effect on Thunderflare Dominion without checking whether your team can supply a Shield. The weapon still has its separate Heavy Attack effect after Intro Skill or Resonance Skill.
