Guide
How the kit works
Start with Question the Tombs when available. It gives 100 Qi and converts Ghost Shroud into Fortune in Disguise, which grants Fusion DMG Bonus for 15 seconds. You can follow the Intro with the second hit of the Basic Attack chain.
Use Malevolent Encounter in the current state, then press or hold Normal Attack in mid-air while Cleanse of Impurity is active. The resulting attack deals Heavy Attack DMG and restores 100 Qi. Cleanse of Impurity lasts up to 4 seconds and ends early if you switch Resonators or change states.
With Edge of Life and Death, hits three and four of either state’s chain each restore 50 Qi and count as Heavy Attack DMG. A successful Dodge Counter restores 100 Qi and lets you continue at the fourth hit. Several moves, including the airborne skill follow-up, let you continue at hit two.
At 300 Qi, hold Normal Attack to use the state’s Heavy Attack from Upstream Along Santu. It spends the Qi and switches Jingran to the other state. Use Burial of Thousand Souls to gain 200 Qi, three Wayfarer's Mark stacks and Yinghuo for 15 seconds. Each marked Heavy Attack restores 200 Qi, letting you build toward the next one quickly.
During Yinghuo, those Heavy Attacks also consume Fire of Life to increase their damage multiplier based on Max HP, and summon Chimei Wangliang for another Fusion hit counted as Heavy Attack DMG. The Liberation grants 100 Fire of Life and reduces current HP to 50% of Max HP if it was higher.
Build and why
Use five pieces of Lamp of Nether Road. Its listed two-piece effect gives 10% HP, which suits Jingran’s Max HP conversions. The supplied set effect does not describe the five-piece bonus, so check it in game.
Thousandfold Deliverance is the first weapon choice. It gives 12% All-Attribute DMG Bonus, and its Intro or active Shield triggers build stacks that grant up to 24% Crit. DMG. Those stacks end when Jingran switches out, so keep him active while using them.
Thunderflare Dominion is the next option. Its Intro or Resonance Skill effect increases Heavy Attack DMG by 20% for 15 seconds, and Shields build up DEF ignore for Heavy Attacks. Verdant Summit is another option, giving Attribute DMG Bonus and stacking Heavy Attack DMG Bonus after Intro or Liberation.
HP is a good option because of Jingran’s conversions. Crit. Rate and Crit. DMG are also worth considering for damage. The Max HP conversions for ATK, Fusion DMG Bonus and Incoming Healing Bonus have caps, so check the bonuses as you add HP.
Leveling priority
A suggested skill order is Upstream Along Santu, Burial of Thousand Souls, Malevolent Encounter, Edge of Life and Death, then Question the Tombs. The Forte contains the Qi-spending Heavy Attacks, while the Liberation supports their enhanced window.
The Skill and Basic Attack follow because they contribute damage and help refill Qi. The Intro is useful for its conversion and Qi, but its listed damage is a smaller part of the rotation to focus on leveling.
For maximum ascension, gather 170,000 Shell Credit, 4 LF Whisperin Core, 12 MF Whisperin Core, 12 HF Whisperin Core, 4 FF Whisperin Core, 46 Forged Empyrean's Sigh and 60 Cloudperch Seed.
For all skills, gather 2,030,000 Shell Credit, 25 LF Whisperin Core, 28 MF Whisperin Core, 40 HF Whisperin Core, 57 FF Whisperin Core, 26 Skyward Glazed Heart, 25 LF Carved Crystal, 28 MF Carved Crystal, 55 HF Carved Crystal and 67 FF Carved Crystal.
Resonance Chain nodes worth it
A Solitary Lantern, Across Lands Shade-Trodden (sequence 2) is a strong upgrade to consider first. It increases the Heavy Attack multipliers, gives Jingran 300 Qi on entering combat and grants Netherworld's Boon, which adds Resonance Energy recovery and a four-second Heavy Attack DMG Amplification effect.
As Favors and Feuds Fade, New Stories Await (sequence 6) is another major damage upgrade: targets take 40% more Heavy Attack DMG from Jingran, and Yinghuo can trigger extra Chimei Wangliang attacks. World's Course Shifts, Each to Their Rightful Paths (sequence 3) is worth considering for its extra Ghost Shroud and higher Max HP-to-ATK conversion after Liberation.
Yin and Yang in Harmony, the Ultimate Law of Being (sequence 1) adds skill damage and interruption immunity to the listed skill attacks. Ends Return to Beginnings, Truth of Life Laid Bare (sequence 5) is mainly a safety option against a fatal blow. You can stop before later sequences if you do not need them; earlier sequences are still needed to reach the later ones.
Teams
Give Jingran a healer and consider a teammate who can provide Shields. Healing helps after his Liberation cuts his HP, while Shields help him build Ghost Shroud. He supplies the team with on-field Fusion damage and a damaging Outro rather than a listed team buff at his base progression.
Trace the Vestige gives Jingran Ghost Shroud when nearby teammates gain Shields. On entering combat, it also raises his Ghost Shroud to at least 25 if it was lower. His next Intro converts the stored points into Fortune in Disguise, up to 50 stacks; switching him out ends that bonus.
Mornye and Shorekeeper are named options to try with Jingran, and Iuno is another option. Choose partners around the healing and Shield support you need. Jingran deals Fusion damage, but his listed kit does not require teammates of a particular element.
Common mistakes
Do not leave the field immediately after converting Ghost Shroud if you want to use Fortune in Disguise. The bonus ends on switch, as do the stacks from Thousandfold Deliverance.
Do not ignore the air follow-up after the state-specific Resonance Skill. Use it before Cleanse of Impurity expires or a state change removes it. After a successful Dodge, use the counter and its fourth-hit follow-up to collect Qi.
Watch Jingran’s HP after Liberation and make room for healing. His DEF remains at 0 even if you build more DEF, so use HP for the conversions instead of trying to fix that stat.
