Guide
How the kit works
Open with Special Attack: Locked Position to pull an enemy, kick forward and enter Binding Seal on a hit. The fifth hit of Basic Attack: Razor Wire can also bind the primary target. Dodge Counter: Strangling Reversal and Assist Follow-Up: Course Disruption give you other ways to enter the state.
While Binding Seal is active, use Special Attack: Binding Sunder - First Form to tether nearby enemies and detonate. With enough Energy, EX Special Attack: Binding Sunder - Final Form (Special) does the same with more damage and invulnerability. Both end Binding Seal after detonation. A Perfect Dodge on activation gives 25% extra Burning Embers; you can also cancel the detonation after tethering enemies and continue from the third Basic Attack hit.
Damage from Evelyn's skills builds Burning Embers through Passive: Bind. At 50% Embers, hold the attack input for Basic Attack: Garrote - First Form. If you still have at least 50%, keep holding for Basic Attack: Garrote - Second Form. Each consumes 50% Embers and grants one Burning Tether Point.
At three Burning Tether Points, the next Garrote consumes the points and becomes Chain Attack: Lunalux - Snare, with a lower Interrupt Level. A hit also puts Evelyn back into Binding Seal. Use Ultimate: Lunalux Garrote - Timbre at maximum Decibel Rating: it grants a point and starts Dance of Awakened Fire for the rest of the battle.
In that state, the point-triggered Lunalux - Snare retains one Burning Tether Point instead of spending all of them. Later uses at maximum Decibel Rating become Ultimate: Lunalux Garrote - Shadow, which also grants a point.
Build and why
The recommended four-piece set is Woodpecker Electro. Its two-piece bonus gives 8% CRIT Rate, while critical hits with Basic Attack, Dodge Counter or EX Special Attack each provide a separately timed 9% ATK bonus for 6 seconds.
Inferno Metal is another four-piece option: hitting a Burning enemy grants 28% CRIT Rate for 8 seconds. Hormone Punk is also worth considering for its ATK bonuses, though its four-piece effect lasts 10 seconds and can trigger once every 20 seconds.
Pair four pieces of Woodpecker Electro with two pieces of Branch & Blade Song for 16% CRIT DMG. On disc 4, choose CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG; use Fire DMG Bonus on disc 5 and Percent ATK on disc 6. For substats, prioritize CRIT Rate, then Percent ATK, then CRIT DMG. Account for Entangle's 25% CRIT Rate when aiming for Ambush Point's 80% threshold.
Heartstring Nocturne is the top weapon: it gives 50% CRIT DMG and lets Chain Attack and Ultimate ignore 12.5% Fire RES per Heartstring stack, up to two stacks. Marcato Desire gives ATK after an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack hits, with a larger bonus against a target under an Attribute Anomaly. Cannon Rotor gives ATK and adds damage on a critical hit, once every 8 seconds.
Leveling priority
Follow the game's order: Core Passive first, then Chain Attack, Basic Attack, Special Attack, Assist and Dodge. Entangle supports the CRIT Rate target, while Chain Attack is central to the Burning Tether Point rotation.
Basic Attack and Special Attack follow because you use them to build resources, enter Binding Seal and spend time on the field. Assist and Dodge come last in this order.
For maximum ascension, collect 800,000 Denny, 4 Basic Attack Certification Seal, 32 Advanced Attack Certification Seal and 30 Pioneer's Certification Seal.
For all skills, collect 2,905,000 Denny, 25 Basic Burn Chip, 75 Advanced Burn Chip, 250 Specialized Burn Chip, 5 Hamster Cage Pass, 9 Scarlet Engine and 60 Higher Dimensional Data: Steel Malice.
Mindscapes worth it
As a suggestion, Bond of Light and Shadow is the largest upgrade to consider. After a Chain Attack or Ultimate, it enables area Fire follow-up attacks for 20 seconds. Each deals 375% of ATK, counts as Chain Attack DMG and can trigger up to 16 times.
Dance of Fire is another option: it gives 15% ATK and returns the Burning Embers spent on a Garrote once every 25 seconds. It also raises the Interrupt Level of the point-triggered Chain Attack.
Dreamweave (M1) gives 1,500 Decibels on entry and lets Evelyn ignore 12% DEF when attacking Bound enemies. Its Bound effect can spread through her Special Attacks. If you would rather stop than take skill-level increases, stopping before Metamorphosis or Crimson Threads Like the Dawn is reasonable; both add two levels to the same five skill categories.
Teams
Evelyn wants at least one Stun or Support teammate. With one present, Additional Ability: Ambush Point gives her Chain Attack and Ultimate 30% more DMG. At 80% CRIT Rate or higher, the listed Chain Attack and Ultimates also have their DMG multiplier raised to 125% of its original value.
Evelyn contributes sustained on-field Fire damage and frequent access to her point-triggered Chain Attack. Defensive Assist: Silent Protection can also parry an attack and deal Daze before she follows up.
Common mistakes
Don't forget the 25% CRIT Rate from Core Passive: Entangle when checking the 80% target. The bonus stays for 10 seconds after Binding Seal ends, but it is not permanent outside that window.
Don't leave Burning Embers unused when you can spend them on Basic Attack: Garrote - First Form and build points. Once you have three points, remember that the next Garrote becomes Chain Attack: Lunalux - Snare.
Don't switch away in Binding Seal without a plan: Evelyn automatically uses Special Attack: Binding Sunder - First Form. If you want the invulnerable EX Special Attack: Binding Sunder - Final Form (Special) instead, use it while Evelyn is still on the field and has enough Energy.
