Guide
How the kit works
Start attacking with Basic Attack: Kazahana. Its first two hits deal Physical DMG and the last three deal Frost DMG; the fifth hit can block enemy attacks. Frost DMG applies Icefire through Core Passive: Searing Cold, and Icefire lasts 30 seconds.
Build Frost Anomaly against that target. When Miyabi applies Frostbite to an enemy with Icefire, she consumes Icefire and triggers Frostburn - Break for Frost DMG equal to 1,500% of her ATK. It also gives her 1 Fallen Frost, at most once every 10 seconds. Enemies in Frostburn take 20% more Anomaly Buildup from all units.
Use EX Special Attack: Hisetsu (Special) when you have Energy: it gives 2 Fallen Frost. With enough Energy, press again for a follow-up and another 2 points. Ultimate: Lingering Snow gives 3 points and increases Ice DMG by 30% for 12 seconds. Miyabi is invulnerable during both attacks.
At 2 or more points, hold Basic Attack: Shimotsuki to charge. Each level consumes 2 points, up to three levels. Release the attack, or let it fire when the points run out. Miyabi is invulnerable in the stance. A squad member's Disorder gives her 2 points and makes the next Shimotsuki ignore 30% of the target's Ice RES, provided Additional Ability: Bask in Frost is active.
Build and why
Use four pieces of Branch & Blade Song. Its two-piece bonus gives 16% CRIT DMG; at 115 Anomaly Mastery or more, the four-piece effect gives another 30% CRIT DMG. When a squad member applies Freeze or triggers Shatter, it also gives 12% CRIT Rate for 15 seconds.
Pair it with two pieces of Woodpecker Electro for 8% CRIT Rate, or Puffer Electro for 8% PEN Ratio. A four-piece Polar Metal is an alternative: it increases Basic Attack DMG, with a further increase after the squad applies Freeze or triggers Shatter.
For disc 4, use CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG; for disc 5, Ice DMG Bonus or PEN Ratio; for disc 6, Percent ATK. Look for CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG and Percent ATK in substats, in that order. CRIT Rate helps Miyabi's Frost Anomaly Buildup Rate against Icefire targets, up to the passive's 80% increase. Count temporary CRIT Rate buffs when checking that threshold.
Hailstorm Shrine is the first weapon choice. It gives 50% CRIT DMG, and its Ice DMG bonus can stack twice after an EX Special Attack or a squad member applying an Attribute Anomaly. Fusion Compiler is next: it gives ATK and gains Anomaly Proficiency stacks from Special Attacks. Electro-Lip Gloss is another option when an enemy has an Attribute Anomaly.
Leveling priority
Follow the game's order: Core Passive: Searing Cold first, then Basic Attack, Chain Attack, Special Attack, Assist and Dodge. The passive defines Miyabi's Frost Anomaly mechanics, while Basic Attack covers the charged slash you use throughout a fight.
Chain Attack comes before Special Attack in that order. The latter includes EX Special Attack: Hisetsu (Special), which also supplies Fallen Frost. Assist and Dodge come last; they are still useful for responding to enemy attacks.
For maximum ascension, gather 800,000 Denny, 4 Basic Anomaly Certification Seal, 32 Advanced Anomaly Certification Seal and 30 Controller Certification Seal. Maxing all skills takes another 2,905,000 Denny, 25 Basic Freeze Chip, 75 Advanced Freeze Chip, 250 Specialized Freeze Chip, 5 Hamster Cage Pass, 9 Sycophant's Refinement and 60 Higher Dimensional Data: Thunderous Dragon.
Mindscapes worth it
For a suggested upgrade target, Breath Technique is worth considering. Miyabi enters with 6 Fallen Frost instead of 3 and gains 15% CRIT Rate. The final move of the fifth hit of Basic Attack: Kazahana also gives her 1 point when it hits.
Prodigious Talent is another major option. It increases Basic Attack: Shimotsuki DMG by 30% and lets Miyabi automatically draw and slash as she consumes Fallen Frost. Charging continues until the points run out, with up to three draws and slashes per stance.
Frost Atop the Snow is also useful: each point consumed in the stance lets Shimotsuki ignore 6% DEF, up to six stacks. A level-three slash hitting an enemy in Frostburn removes that state and gives the squad 20% Anomaly Buildup Rate for 10 seconds.
You can leave Martial Discipline and Anniversary for later if you are focused on new mechanics; both add two levels to the listed skill categories. Rupture (M4) increases Frostburn - Break DMG and adds Decibels when it triggers, so it is another optional stopping point rather than a requirement.
Teams
Additional Ability: Bask in Frost needs another Support or Anomaly character, or someone from Miyabi's faction. It increases Basic Attack: Shimotsuki DMG by 60% and rewards squad Disorder with Fallen Frost and Ice RES ignore for the next stance.
Common mistakes
Do not spend every opening Fallen Frost point without checking the fight. A full three-level Basic Attack: Shimotsuki needs 6 points, so use your Energy, Ultimate and squad Disorder to refill before charging when you want the largest slash.
Do not assume Icefire stays on an enemy throughout Frostburn. Miyabi cannot reapply it during that state. Frostburn ends when Frostbite expires, and another Attribute Anomaly can overwrite Frostbite and remove Frostburn.
Do not ignore the 115 Anomaly Mastery condition on Branch & Blade Song or forget its temporary CRIT Rate buff when checking your stats. Also check your squad before a fight: without the required teammate, Additional Ability: Bask in Frost will not activate.
