Guide
How the kit works
Before a fight, you can use Explicit Subsidy. After Numby’s first attack in the next battle, Topaz regenerates 60 Energy. Outside combat, Numby also searches for nearby Basic Treasures and Trotters.
Use Difficulty Paying? on the enemy you want to focus. It applies Proof of Debt, making that enemy take 50% more Follow-Up ATK DMG, and Numby deals Fire DMG equal to 150% of Topaz’s ATK. This Skill’s damage counts as a Follow-Up ATK. Only the most recently marked enemy has Proof of Debt; if no enemy is marked when an ally’s turn starts or an ally acts, Topaz marks a random enemy.
Trotter Market!? summons Numby at the start of battle. Numby has 80 SPD by default and attacks the marked enemy for Fire DMG equal to 150% of Topaz’s ATK. An ally’s Follow-Up ATK against that enemy advances Numby’s action by 50%, although this advance cannot trigger during Numby’s own turn. Deficit... (Basic) deals Fire DMG equal to 100% of Topaz’s ATK and also counts as a Follow-Up ATK.
Turn a Profit! puts Numby in an enhanced state for two attacks, increasing its DMG multiplier by 150% and CRIT DMG by 25%. During that state, an ally’s Basic ATK, Skill or Ultimate hitting the marked enemy advances Numby’s action by 50%. Each of Numby’s attacks in this state also restores 10 Energy to Topaz.
Build and why
For relics, use four pieces of The Ashblazing Grand Duke. Its two-piece effect gives 20% Follow-Up ATK DMG, which suits both Topaz’s attacks and Numby. The four-piece effect grants ATK for each instance of damage from a Follow-Up ATK, up to eight stacks, and is removed the next time the wearer uses a Follow-Up ATK.
Pair it with two pieces of Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves. Ally Follow-Up ATKs build Merit stacks, each giving 5% Follow-Up ATK DMG. At five stacks, the set also gives 25% CRIT DMG. The Wondrous BananAmusement Park is another option: it gives 16% CRIT DMG, plus 32% while a target summoned by the wearer is on the field. Inert Salsotto is an alternative if you reach its 50% CRIT Rate requirement for the Follow-Up ATK DMG bonus.
Choose CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on the body, ATK Percentage or SPD on the feet, Fire DMG Boost on the sphere and ATK Percentage on the rope. For substats, the game recommends CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK Percentage and SPD in that order. CRIT and ATK support the damage in the kit, while SPD helps Topaz take turns.
Worrisome, Blissful is the first Light Cone choice: it gives CRIT Rate and Follow-Up ATK DMG, and its Tame stacks increase the CRIT DMG allies deal to the affected enemy. Cruising in the Stellar Sea gives CRIT Rate and grants ATK after the wearer defeats an enemy. Swordplay is another choice for repeated hits on one target, though its stacks disappear when the wearer changes targets. The Finale of a Lie is also worth considering for its CRIT Rate and battle-start damage effect.
Leveling priority
Follow the game’s order: Difficulty Paying?, Turn a Profit!, Trotter Market!?, then Deficit.... The Skill applies the mark and deals Follow-Up ATK DMG. The Ultimate strengthens Numby’s attacks, while the Talent controls Numby’s regular attacks. The Basic comes last, even though it also counts as a Follow-Up ATK.
For full ascension, you need 308,000 Credit, 65 Searing Steel Blade, 15 Silvermane Badge, 15 Silvermane Insignia and 15 Silvermane Medal.
For all skills, you need 3,000,000 Credit, 8 Tracks of Destiny, 18 Arrow of the Beast Hunter, 69 Arrow of the Demon Slayer, 139 Arrow of the Starchaser and 12 Regret of Infinite Ochema. You also need 41 Silvermane Badge, 56 Silvermane Insignia and 58 Silvermane Medal for skills.
Eidolons worth it
Future Market is the standout upgrade. Follow-Up ATKs apply Debtor to the enemy with Proof of Debt. Each stack increases the CRIT DMG dealt to that enemy by Follow-Up ATKs by 25%, up to two stacks. Debtor can be applied only once per attack and disappears when Proof of Debt is removed.
Incentive Mechanism is the other major jump: Numby gets one more attack in its Ultimate’s enhanced state and gains 10% Fire RES PEN when attacking in that state. It comes much later than E1.
Bona Fide Acquisition is worth considering for Energy: Topaz regenerates 5 Energy after Numby takes action and attacks. If you are keeping investment low, you can stop at E1 and leave the later eidolons for another time.
Teams
For example, try Topaz & Numby with Ashveil, Mortenax Blade and Sparkle. Against a different lineup of enemies, Feixiao and Luocha are alternatives to consider. Topaz gives these teams a stronger target for Follow-Up ATKs; their hits help move Numby forward.
Common mistakes
Do not assume Proof of Debt stays on every enemy you mark. Difficulty Paying? moves it to the latest target, so check the mark before the team commits its Follow-Up ATKs. If the mark is assigned randomly after the previous target is gone, move it to the enemy you want to focus.
Do not forget that Deficit... counts as a Follow-Up ATK. It remains useful when you choose not to spend a Skill Point. Keep Topaz alive too: if she is downed, Numby disappears. When using Inert Salsotto, check your current CRIT Rate before relying on its damage bonus.
