Guide
How the kit works
Before a fight, The Red or the Black randomly selects a DEF increase of 24%, 36% or 60% for the next battle, lasting 3 turns. Repeated uses keep the highest result. With Hot Hand unlocked, the team also starts battle with Fortified Wager equal to the shield from Cornerstone Deluxe.
Use Cornerstone Deluxe when the team needs more protection. It shields every ally for 3 turns, and repeated shields can stack up to 200% of the current shield provided by the Skill. With Shot Loaded Right, a shielded ally gains 50% Effect RES and gives Aventurine 1 Blind Bet when attacked. If Aventurine himself is shielded and attacked, he gains another point.
At 7 Blind Bet, Aventurine consumes 7 points for a Follow-Up ATK with 7 hits against random enemies. Blind Bet has a cap of 10. Bingo! then gives everyone a smaller shield and gives the ally with the lowest Shield Effect another one. Shielded teammates' Follow-Up ATKs also grant Blind Bet, up to 3 times before the count resets at the start of Aventurine's turn.
Use Roulette Shark to gain 1 to 7 random Blind Bet points and apply Unnerved to one enemy for 3 turns. Allies hitting that enemy deal 15% more CRIT DMG. Straight Bet deals Imaginary DMG to one enemy when you do not need to use the Skill.
Build and why
For relics, use four pieces of Self-Enshrouded Recluse. It increases the shields Aventurine provides, and shielded allies gain 15% CRIT DMG. Pair it with two pieces of Broken Keel: its Effect RES helps reach the 30% threshold for another 10% CRIT DMG for all allies.
For a damage-focused alternative, Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters rewards attacks against debuffed enemies, and Aventurine's Ultimate supplies a debuff. Inert Salsotto boosts his Ultimate and Follow-Up ATK damage once his CRIT Rate reaches 50%. Knight of Purity Palace is another option for DEF and stronger shield capacity; Belobog of the Architects offers DEF as a planar set.
Start with DEF Percentage on the body, feet, sphere and rope. CRIT DMG on the body, SPD on the feet or Imaginary DMG Boost on the sphere are alternatives if you can maintain enough protection. Among substats, prioritize DEF Percentage, then CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG and SPD. Leverage gives Aventurine up to 48% CRIT Rate from DEF above 1600.
Inherently Unjust Destiny is the first Light Cone choice: it gives DEF, grants Aventurine CRIT DMG when he shields an ally and has a 100% base chance to increase damage taken by an enemy hit by his Follow-Up ATK. Moment of Victory offers DEF and makes him more likely to be attacked. Journey, Forever Peaceful instead increases his Shield Effect and the damage dealt by shielded allies.
Leveling priority
Follow the game's order: Cornerstone Deluxe, Shot Loaded Right, Roulette Shark, then Straight Bet. The Skill strengthens the team's main shield, while the Talent improves Effect RES and Follow-Up ATK damage. The Ultimate comes next, with the single-target Basic last.
For full ascension, gather 308,000 Credit, 65 Suppressing Edict, 15 Tatters of Thought, 15 Fragments of Impression and 15 Shards of Desires.
Maxing all skills takes another 3,000,000 Credit, 8 Tracks of Destiny, 18 Scattered Stardust, 69 Crystal Meteorites, 139 Divine Amber, 12 Past Evils of the Borehole Planet Disaster, 41 Tatters of Thought, 56 Fragments of Impression and 58 Shards of Desires.
Eidolons worth it
Prisoner's Dilemma is a good first upgrade to consider. Shielded allies gain 20% CRIT DMG, and Aventurine's Ultimate gives everyone a full Skill-sized shield for 3 turns. That adds team damage and another way to maintain protection.
For a deeper investment, Unexpected Hanging Paradox is worth considering for Aventurine's own damage: triggering his Talent's Follow-Up ATK first gives him 40% DEF for 2 turns and adds 3 hits to that attack. Bounded Rationality is another useful option, reducing a target's All-Type RES by 12% for 3 turns when he uses his Basic ATK.
Droprate Maxing and Ambiguity Aversion raise skill levels rather than adding a new effect. Stag Hunt Game increases Aventurine's damage by 50% per shielded teammate, up to 150%. You can leave those later upgrades for another time if you prefer the earlier effects; reaching a higher Eidolon still requires the preceding ones.
Teams
Aventurine can cover the team's protection while damage dealers and debuffers use the other slots. He wants allies who can attack the enemy marked by his Ultimate, since its CRIT DMG increase applies when they hit that target. His shields also give allies Effect RES.
There is no required element next to Aventurine. Pick the team's damage types for the fight; his own attacks deal Imaginary DMG, while his shields can protect allies of any type.
Common mistakes
Do not assume the starting shields will last the whole fight. Watch their strength and duration, then use Cornerstone Deluxe when the team needs it. The smaller shields from Bingo! help, but they depend on Aventurine launching his Follow-Up ATK.
Do not build only CRIT stats while ignoring DEF. DEF supports shields and damage, and Leverage supplies CRIT Rate as DEF rises. Check your actual CRIT Rate before relying on the 50% requirement for Inert Salsotto.
Do not treat Roulette Shark as a fixed source of Blind Bet: it gives a random 1 to 7 points. Place Unnerved on an enemy your allies will attack, and remember that Shot Loaded Right can resist Crowd Control for Aventurine again only after 2 turns.
