Guide
How the kit works
Start with Flowfire Blade. Tap it to summon a Blazing Threshold, which periodically hits nearby opponents. Hold it to deal AoE Pyro DMG and summon a Scorching Threshold. The held version makes a coordinated Pyro attack when the active character inside it deals DMG, once every 3 seconds.
Either version grants 42 Nightsoul points and starts Nightsoul’s Blessing. The points drain over time, and the state ends when they run out or after a maximum of 12 seconds. Using the Skill again resets the points to 42, but you can have only one of the two Thresholds at a time.
Use Plains Scorcher for AoE Pyro DMG and to restore 7 Nightsoul points per second for 4 seconds. Those points help maintain the Threshold, but do not remove the state’s 12-second maximum. True Flame of Incineration increases the attack area of the Thresholds after they hit while Traveler has more than 20 points.
Embers Unspent restores 5 Energy when the active character inside a Threshold triggers a Pyro-related reaction, once every 12 seconds. A nearby party member’s Nightsoul Burst also restores 4 Energy. Foreign Starfire gains a stack when a nearby party member triggers Nightsoul Burst; at two stacks, a Charged Attack becomes Inferno and consumes them. Each hit gains Pyro DMG equal to 200% of Traveler’s ATK, with Inferno available once every 15 seconds.
Foreign Blaze (NA) has up to five Normal Attack strikes. Its Charged Attack uses Stamina for two strikes. Use these when Traveler needs to stay on the field, especially after gaining the sixth constellation.
Build and why
For team support, use four pieces of Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City. When Traveler triggers a reaction during Nightsoul’s Blessing, the set grants nearby party members a 12% Elemental DMG Bonus for the elements involved for 15 seconds, plus 28% for 20 seconds. Traveler can trigger it off-field. Bonuses from copies of the same set do not stack.
Four pieces of Tenacity of the Millelith are another support option: a Skill hit grants nearby party members 20% ATK and 30% Shield Strength for 3 seconds, even when its wearer is off-field. For more personal Skill damage, consider four pieces of Golden Troupe; its four-piece effect gives an extra Skill DMG increase while the wearer is off-field.
Use Energy Recharge or ATK Percentage on the sands, Pyro DMG Bonus on the goblet, and CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on the circlet. Look for CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG in substats, followed by Energy Recharge, ATK Percentage and Elemental Mastery. Energy Recharge helps with Burst use, while ATK supports the held Skill’s coordinated attacks.
Favonius Sword is the first weapon to consider. Its CRIT Hits have a 60% chance to generate particles that restore 6 Energy to a character, once every 12 seconds. Freedom-Sworn is another team-oriented choice: reactions grant Sigils even off-field, and two Sigils activate its party effect. Mistsplitter Reforged gives 12% Elemental DMG Bonus and further bonuses through its Emblem stacks.
For a Skill-focused alternative, Festering Desire increases Elemental Skill DMG by 16% and its CRIT Rate by 6%. Choose a weapon and circlet together: Favonius Sword needs CRIT Hits to attempt its particle effect.
Leveling priority
For an off-field build, a sensible leveling order is Flowfire Blade, then Plains Scorcher, then Foreign Blaze (NA). The Skill is the source of the recurring Threshold attacks, while the Burst deals a separate hit. Normal Attacks are less important if Traveler spends little time on the field.
For maximum ascension, gather Mora, Windwheel Aster, Brilliant Diamond Sliver, Brilliant Diamond Fragment, Brilliant Diamond Chunk and Brilliant Diamond Gemstone. You will also need Damaged Mask, Stained Mask and Ominous Mask.
Talent upgrades use Mora, Crown of Insight, Teachings of Contention, Guide to Contention, Philosophies of Contention, Guide to Kindling, Philosophies of Kindling, Guide to Conflict and Philosophies of Conflict. Gather Sentry’s Wooden Whistle, Warrior’s Metal Whistle, Saurian-Crowned Warrior’s Golden Whistle and The Cornerstone of Stars and Flames as well.
Constellations worth it
The Sacred Flame Imperishable is the standout upgrade for an on-field Traveler. During Nightsoul’s Blessing, Normal, Charged and Plunging Attacks become Nightsoul-aligned Pyro DMG that cannot be overridden, and those attacks gain 40% CRIT DMG.
For an off-field setup, Starfire’s Flowing Light (C1) is a useful early upgrade: the active character deals 6% more DMG while a Threshold is active, with another 9% if that character is in Nightsoul’s Blessing. Ever-Lit Candle restores 14 Nightsoul points after a nearby party member triggers a Pyro-related reaction within 12 seconds of the Skill, up to 28 points per Skill use.
Relayed Beacon adds three Skill levels, while Ravaging Flame grants Traveler 20% Pyro DMG Bonus for 9 seconds after the Burst. The Fire Inextinguishable adds three Burst levels. You can leave those later upgrades for now if you only want the off-field role; you cannot skip them on the way to C6.
Teams
Traveler wants an active character who can make use of the following Threshold and teammates whose elements allow Pyro reactions. A healer or shielder can cover survival, since Traveler’s base kit does not provide either. With Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, make sure Traveler is the one triggering the reaction for the set’s bonus.
For a Hydro team, try Neuvillette with Furina and Xilonen. Traveler adds Pyro while the Hydro characters are available for reactions. Or try Ororon and Chevreuse in an Overloaded-oriented group, with Bennett as another Pyro teammate.
Common mistakes
Do not assume a teammate’s reaction activates Traveler’s Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City. Its wearer must trigger the reaction, although they can do so from off-field. Also avoid assigning the same set to two characters for the same bonus, because its bonuses do not stack.
Do not treat the tapped and held Thresholds as if they can coexist. Pick the periodic nearby hits or the coordinated attacks, and watch the Nightsoul points so the effect does not disappear unexpectedly. The Burst restores points, but the state still has a 12-second maximum.
Do not neglect CRIT Rate with Favonius Sword, or invest heavily in Normal Attack levels for an off-field build before the Skill. If you want to use Traveler’s attacks as Pyro damage, remember that the conversion from The Sacred Flame Imperishable requires Nightsoul’s Blessing.
