Guide
How the kit works
Use Fragrance Extraction to place a Level 1 Lumidouce Case and deal AoE Dendro damage. The Case fires Puffs of Puredew at nearby opponents. While nearby opponents are affected by Burning, they produce a Scent at intervals, with one created this way every 2 seconds. The Case collects them.
After collecting two Scents, the Case reaches Level 2. It fires an extra Puff of Puredew per attack, with increased damage and area. If it collects no Scents for 8 seconds, it returns to Level 1. Only one Case created by Emilie herself can exist at a time.
Once the Case is at Level 2, collecting two Scents lets Lingering Fragrance consume them and release Cleardew Cologne. It deals AoE Dendro damage equal to 600% of Emilie's ATK, but this is not Elemental Skill damage. Rectification increases her damage against Burning opponents by 15% per 1,000 ATK, up to 36%.
Use Aromatic Explication when you want its damage: it stows an existing Case and creates a Level 3 Case. This Case cannot collect Scents, but drops Scented Dew every 0.3 seconds; an individual opponent can be selected as a target every 0.7 seconds. When it ends, the stowed Case returns with its duration reset. If none was stowed, a Level 1 Case appears instead.
Fragrance Extraction cannot create a Case while Aromatic Explication is active. Headspace Capture gives the whole party 85% Pyro RES against Burning damage while Emilie's Case is on the field. Shadow-Hunting Spear (NA) is available for spear attacks, but her Case does not need her to stay on the field.
Build and why
The first set to consider is four pieces of Unfinished Reverie. Its two-piece bonus gives 18% ATK, and its four-piece bonus reaches 50% damage. In combat, nearby Burning opponents build that bonus back up; without one nearby for over 6 seconds, it starts to fall. The effect works off-field, which suits Emilie's Case.
Four pieces of Deepwood Memories are an alternative, especially when the team wants Dendro RES reduction: Skill or Burst hits lower it by 30% for 8 seconds, even off-field. Golden Troupe is another option for Skill damage, but its bonus does not apply to Cleardew Cologne because that damage is not Elemental Skill damage.
Use ATK Percentage or Energy Recharge on the sands, Dendro DMG Bonus or ATK Percentage on the goblet, and CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on the circlet. For substats, look for CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG first, followed by ATK Percentage and Energy Recharge. Choose enough Energy Recharge to use the Burst when you need it, then build damage.
Lumidouce Elegy is the first weapon choice. It gives ATK and builds a damage bonus when its wielder triggers Burning or deals Dendro damage to Burning opponents; at two stacks it can also restore Energy. Calamity Queller follows, gaining ATK after the Skill and doubling that ATK increase off-field. Staff of Homa is another strong option with an ATK bonus based on Max HP. For a four-star option, consider Deathmatch.
Leveling priority
A good leveling order is Fragrance Extraction, then Aromatic Explication, then Shadow-Hunting Spear (NA). The Case provides attacks while Emilie is off-field, while the Burst gives her another source of Dendro damage. Normal Attacks are less central to this setup.
For full ascension, gather Lakelight Lily and Fragment of a Golden Melody, along with Nagadus Emerald Sliver, Nagadus Emerald Fragment, Nagadus Emerald Chunk and Nagadus Emerald Gemstone. You also need Meshing Gear, Mechanical Spur Gear, Artificed Dynamic Gear and Mora.
To level all three talents, you need Teachings of Order, Guide to Order and Philosophies of Order, plus the same three Gear materials. Silken Feather, Crown of Insight and Mora are also required. Cleardew Cologne is not Elemental Skill damage, so do not mistake it for a Skill hit when assessing bonuses.
Constellations worth it
Light Fragrance Leaching is the standout upgrade in the available guide ratings. It increases Fragrance Extraction and Cleardew Cologne damage by 20%. Nearby party members can also generate an extra Scent by triggering Burning or dealing Dendro damage to Burning opponents, once every 2.9 seconds.
Lakelight Top Note is worth considering for a team with Dendro damage. Hits from the Skill, Aromatic Explication, or Cleardew Cologne reduce the target's Dendro RES by 30% for 10 seconds. Marcotte Sillage offers a different playstyle: after the Skill or Burst, Emilie's Normal and Charged Attacks become Dendro and gain damage based on 300% of her ATK. The effect ends after four Scents are created this way or after 5 seconds.
You can skip Exquisite Essence and Puredew Aroma if you are satisfied with her existing damage; they add three levels to the Skill and Burst respectively. Lumidouce Heart Note is worth considering if you want a longer Burst: it adds 2 seconds and reduces the target-selection interval by 0.3 seconds.
Teams
Headspace Capture protects the party specifically against Burning damage while Emilie's Case is present. It is not a replacement for a healer or shield against other damage, so leave room for protection when the fight calls for it.
Common mistakes
Do not let Burning disappear for too long. Without Scents, the Level 2 Case returns to Level 1 after 8 seconds, and Unfinished Reverie's four-piece damage bonus can fall. Check that your Pyro teammate can keep applying Pyro during the time Emilie is off-field.
Do not expect the Level 3 Case from Aromatic Explication to collect Scents, or Fragrance Extraction to create another Case while the Burst is active. The previous Case returns afterward if one was stowed. Also avoid treating the Burning resistance from Headspace Capture as protection against all Pyro damage.
Finally, do not build only for Elemental Skill damage without checking what it affects. Cleardew Cologne has its own damage classification, while ATK, Dendro DMG Bonus and CRIT stats support more of Emilie's damage than a Skill-only bonus.
